BeforeRent ("the app") is a tool for documenting a rental car's condition. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version
- BeforeRent does not collect any of your data. There is no server, no account, and no analytics. Everything you create in the app — photos, damage marks, vehicle details, dates, and locations — is stored only on your device and never leaves it unless you choose to share it yourself.

All of it is deleted when you delete a record or uninstall the app.
Permissions the app requests
- Camera — used only to photograph the rental car within the app. The app does not record video or audio.
- Location (While Using the App) — used only to tag your photos with where they were taken, which strengthens them as evidence. You can decline this permission; the app works normally and photos are simply saved without location data.
- Photos (Add Only) — used only to save a copy of your shots to your device's photo library as a backup. This permission does not give the app access to read your existing photos.
When you import an existing photo, the app uses Apple's system photo picker. Only the specific photo you select is shared with the app; the app never browses your library.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit, store on servers, or share with anyone:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, account credentials)
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data
- Your photos, locations, or vehicle records
The app contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising, no tracking, and makes no network requests. It works fully offline.
